Friends of Folsom’s annual turkey drive is on now

What began as a donation of 200 turkeys has grown into something much more.

Over the last eight years, Friends of Folsom has fed some 10,000 families, according to the nonprofit organization’s website.

The group, which participates with the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services’ annual Turkey Drive, consists of “friends, families and businesses” who are looking to give to those in need this holiday season.

“The words ‘every little bit helps’ have never been so evident throughout the years,” a statement on the website reads. “Any donation is greatly appreciated.”

Friends of Folsom is teaming with Folsom Lake Hyundai to host its first drop-off point. Frozen turkeys will be accepted from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Nov. 15 at the auto dealership, which will match donations.

The organization doesn’t just give out turkeys. According to a video about the group, Friends of Folsom works year-round to raise money for the less fortunate nationwide and even abroad.
