Last minute shoppers head to Turkey Creek for Christmas gifts

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) – Shoppers were out in full force Friday, picking up those last minute gifts before Christmas. Turkey Creek in Knoxville was booming with business and drivers on the road.

Over the weekend businesses will extend their hours to allow shoppers extra time to get those gifts. Target’s manager says the popular items this year include Legos, Hatchimals and Our Generation dolls.

Shirley Thomas is a mom and grandmother to several kids out picking up last minute presents.

“For my grandsons, mostly toys,” said Thomas. “The girls, they they like the clothes but the boys like toys”

Shoppers were not letting the rain and heavy traffic put a damper on their experience.

“Actually, we just had one gift left to buy,” said Stacy Williams. “Mostly it was just fun to get out of the house and be out in it. Just for fun. We were at Kohls first and it was very crowded there and the traffic getting into Turkey Creek was really heavy.”
