Well this is unexpected – Turkey is getting its own version of the Aussie soap.
Soap lovers in Turkey are about to get their own version of Neighbours, based on actual storylines from the show as Fremantle Media International have decided the Aussies shouldn’t be the only owns with the best soap on TV.
It’ll be based on storylines and characters from the original show, with a few new additions, and will be called Komşular, set in the fictional Istanbul called Karanfil Yokuşu, AKA the Turkish Erinsborough.
The lucky Turks will get an hour of their version of the soap, and will feature storylines dating back from 2012 onwards, when the Turner and Willis families returned to the street.
The names will change, but no doubt the Turkish version of Karl Kennedy will still be utterly hilarious.
Drama operations executive Erdi Isiky told Digital Spy: ‘Komşular, the Turkish version of Neighbours by No:9 Productions and directed by Canan Evcimen and Göksel Aydın, will launch on Fox Turkey on November 6.
‘Much like the original series that is loved by audiences far and wide, the first global adaptation includes a brilliant cast and will be sure to capture Fox audiences across Turkey.’
The series kicks of in Turkey tonight.
