BELFRY, Ky. – Two individuals arrested in connection with a murder investigation in the Turkey Creek area of Pike County were arraigned Thursday morning.
Jennifer Blankenship, 31 of Turkey Creek, and Okey Hinkle, 28 of Delbarton, were arrested at the scene of the murder investigation for outstanding warrants unrelated to this incident.
The two were arraigned Thursday morning. At this time, Jennifer Blankenship, has been charged with murder. At the arraignment, Blankenship entered a plea of not guilty. Blankenship’s bond has been set at $500,000.
At the arraignment, Okey Hinkle was charged in contempt for the outstanding warrant he was arrested on. Hinkle has another hearing scheduled Friday. Hinkle’s bond has been set at $250,000.
Thursday morning, a press release was issued from the Kentucky State Police Post 9 providing details regarding this incident. The statement can be read below:
On June 21, 2017, Post 09 received a call from the Mingo County Sheriff’s Office requesting assistance in locating a subject that had been reported missing to their department. Troopers from KSP Post 09 and Mingo County Deputies responded to a residence on Turkey Creek Road in Pike County. A search warrant was obtained, and investigators with KSP Post 09 located an unidentified person buried in a shallow grave. The body has been sent to Frankfort for an autopsy and positive identification.
Jennifer Blankenship, 31 of Turkey Creek, and Okey Hinkle, 28 of Delbarton, were arrested at the scene for outstanding warrants unrelated to this incident. Blankenship and Hinkle were later charged while lodged at the Pike County Detention Center. Blankenship has been charged with Murder. Hinkle has been charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence.
