Turkey: Turkey – Factors to Watch on June 19


ISTANBUL, June 19 (Reuters) – Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Monday.

The lira stood at 3.4975 against the U.S. dollar at 0506 GMT, weakening from 3.5044 at Friday’s close.

The yield on the benchmark 10-year bond was at 10.53 percent in spot trade on Friday and was at 10.50 percent in Monday-dated trade.

The main BIST 100 share index fell 0.55 percent to 98,192.55 points on Friday.


Asian stocks rose on Monday, shaking off Wall Street‘s uninspiring performance on Friday, while sterling was mostly steady after a van rammed into pedestrians in London even as markets braced for the start of Brexit talks. MSCI‘s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan rose 0.5 percent.


President Tayyip Erdogan chairs a meeting of his ruling AK Party‘s central executive committee (1200 GMT).


Prime Minister Binali Yildirim visits Greece at the invitation of his Greek counterpart for talks likely to focus on trade and efforts to resolve the division of the Mediterranean island of Cyprus.
