Turkey’s Densay makes swift $3.9m profit from handy sale

Densay of Turkey is behind what was described as the most interesting deal of the week in the latest report from Clarkson Research.

The Istanbul-based owner has sold the 33,000 dwt SSI Spring for $10.5m, according to numerous sources. The ship was bought by the Tayfun Gunerhan-led Turkish shipowner in March last year for only $6.6m.

The vessel was the Turkish line’s first move into the handysize segment, and is one many asset plays expected from the owner as more of its fleet is circulated for sale.

In addition to the sale, brokers tell Splash Densay has recently bought two supramaxes.
